Hill top Eco Stay Sakleshpur is a 30 acre coffee estate with large paddy fields and a lush wooded section. The highlight of the place is a traditional style courtyard – house made almost entirely in carefully selected and chiselled laterite, built painstakingly over 4 years!
The views are stunning all around. The wind a constant companion. And the walks in every direction make it a perfect do nothing destination just 3.5-4 hours from Bangalore.
How to reach there
Take the Mangalore highway which is 4 laned upto Hassan, and then it narrows down to an undivided but wide road upto Sakleshpur. Cross Sakleshpur town and get to where the Shiradi Ghats start, the Manjirabad Fort is on your left and a small road goes uphill towards Kodlipet.
As you turn in right from this road after 7 kms towards Bugadahalli (warning, kuchha road from here) – you’ll come to a point where a road forks left downhill at 90 degrees to the road you’re on, and there’s a banana plantation on your right immediately as you take this left turn. Continue downhill, enter the gate then drive all the way to the top of the hill. All cars can do this, but in the wetter season, be careful to not rev too hard and not lose momentum driving up.
Activities around the Camp
Frankly, the all round views are enough to keep soaking in for a whole weekend
You can also explore the grasslands around, as well as the estate itself – the coffee, woods, paddy fields. If game for a longer trek there’s many to do around there – do watch out for elephant movement in the area though.
A quick drive takes you to the Manjirabad Fort.
But hey, we have a small, growing library, board games and you don’t really need to do anything!
