Phillip will also ensure that there is a lot of individualised attention and will address all of your child’s doubts and questions.
This overnight workshop is spread over two days, and set in surroundings straight out of a story book. The workshop will include not only theory-based learning, but a lot of practical learning too. Enrol your child today for a hands-on learning experience about the wonderful art of painting with light.

Lerning the Art & Science of Photography, Mastering Light, Nature Walk, Star Gazing, Campfire

DAY 1:
Arrive at the pickup point in Bangalore at 8 a.m, and once all children have assembled, we’ll depart in pre-arranged transport for the hour-long journey to The Outback Farm and Homestay in Bannerghatta, your child’s best ever classroom, we guarantee. On reaching the gorgeous campsite, we will be welcomed with a refreshing drink.
After a brief introduction and ice-breaking session, the workshop will officially commence. Phillip will hold a session introducing digital photography to help your child understand basics such as camera formats, megapixels, the camera body, lenses, focal length and camera accessories.
Once we have a good grasp of the basics, Phillip will introduce the core aspect of photography – EXPOSURE. We’ll briefly discuss the exposure triangle and exposure program modes before we give in to the smells from the kitchen and gorge on a delicious lunch.
After lunch, Phillip will help your child master Aperture, Shutter, ISO and Exposure Compensation using the various program modes such as Manual, Aperture priority and Shutter priority. Your child will certainly end this session with a better grasp of these concepts and feel more confident with their cameras.
It’s practice time! Phillip will lead the children on a beautiful trek to a nearby hill to practice what they’ve learnt so far during the workshop. The top of the hill is a perfect place to try out exposure compensation and metering and also presents a great opportunity to take stunning landscape photographs. If we are very lucky, we could come across some wildlife, too.
We’ll then return to the campsite and relax by the lake while enjoying a snack and a hot beverage.
After freshening up, your child will be taught how to master photographing in the dark with a fun session on low-light and night photography. Your child will love learning about light painting using the bulb mode, and if the sky is clear, they will also learn about star-trail photography.
Over a scrumptious dinner, we will celebrate the fact that your child can now look through their cameras viewfinder with considerably more experience than before.
Just before bedtime, we’ll gather around the campfire and Phillip will show your child some of his finest images and talk to them about composition, thus ending a fun-filled day of learning about photography.

DAY 2:
We awake to the sweet calls of the birds found within the campsite and walk out of our rooms to watch the mist rising over the lake and the sun rays lighting up the surrounding forests.
It’s back to photography! Phillip will first bring everyone up to speed by summarising the previous day’s lessons before turning to all there is to know about focussing, which will include instruction on manual focus, autofocus, autofocus points and focus modes.
After a hearty breakfast, it’s time for a topic that everyone finds quite fascinating – depth of field. Your child will learn about the various aspects that influence depth of field and learn how to create images with a shallow or deep depth of field.
As the workshop winds to a close, Phillip will help your child understand sharpness, image stabilization, white balance, using filters, best practices of photography, cleaning and maintenance and how to purchase equipment.
This immersive workshop will end with a fun photography game and competition.
Everyone’s doubts will be cleared with a question-and-answer session and then we’ll check out and leave in pre-arranged transport and return to the city as proud young photographers.
