This one is up to you!

We do not require hosts to provide a toilet in order to list through Camp Monk. We believe this opens up access to more off the beaten path sites and can be managed by providing education to both hosts and campers on managing a self-contained campsite.

If you decide to go with the 'no toilet' option, it is important to make this very clear in your listing.

Camp Monk provides a weekly payout option automated through our bank, usually gets paid the following Monday after the transaction. Please note the the monies may take 24 hours to be credited to our account.

We ask that you are compliant with laws in your State, Distict, Taluka, Panchayat set forth in planning and local codes.

We do not require you to provide drinking water. Just be sure to indicate that there is no drinking water available and campers will have to supply their own.

It’s up to you to determine whether providing a firepit and allowing campfires is suitable for your property. We suggest contacting your local fire department to get the most up to date rules and regulations.

It’s up to you! You're not required to but we encourage camp lords to interact with the campers.

As part of Leave No Trace, our campers are required to pack out what they pack in. However, if you want to set up a trash receptacle, it may urge campers to Leave it Better than they found it.

Creating multiple listings is helpful when you have more than one campground.

If you've got varied accommodation types like treehouses, tents, dorms etc it can be accommodated in the same listing.

Campsite Listing

If you haven't already, we recommend requesting a Camp Champ to visit and verify your property! Camp Champs are Camp Monk ambassadors that take beautiful photos of your property and verify your listing description.
Great pictures of your campsites make a huge difference to increased bookings. If you dont have a professional photographer to take your pics you can request a Camp Champ to visit your property by writing to campchamp@campmonk.com
In the meantime, here are some pro tips on showcasing your property:
  • Clean up: Before taking photos of the site, clear brush and any clutter in the immediate area and remove anything unnatural (cans, loose trash, building materials, etc.)
  • Photo orientation: Take wide landscape (horizontal) photos instead of portrait (vertical).
  • Lighting: For outdoor sites, take photos during the Golden Hour (just as the sun is starting to set) to get a warm, flattering light. For indoor sites, make sure you shoot during the day when there’s bright light.
  • Processing: Clean and simple looks best—avoid using filters and over-editing photos.

The best tip of all? Make it look like somewhere you’d love to camp :)

We suggest charging a modest amount to start, since you can change your prices at any time. Check campgrounds in your area to see what the rate is for camping in your area for sites with comparable amenities and activities.

Camper FAQ

Campmonk is a web platform for listing, searching, discovering, and booking private estates, farms, vineyards, nature reserves as well as guide to public sites for camping across India

When you are looking at different campsites on Camp Monk, you can see if they have a toilet available by looking in the Amenities section:

If this option is grayed out and has a strike through, this means there is no toilet provided and the host requires you to dispose of waste properly. We do not require hosts to provide a toilet in order to listthrough Camp Monk. We believe this opens up access to more backcountry sites and can be managed by providing education to both hosts and campers on properly disposing of waste.

If a host does not provide a toilet, we ask them to provide their preference for waste disposal (buried or packed out) from their land. In most locations, burying human feces in the correct manner is the most effective method to meet these criteria. Solid human waste must be packed out from some places, such as narrow river canyons. The host or land management agencies can advise you of specific rules for the area you plan to visit.

Leave No Trace provides best practices for disposing of human waste, urine, tampons and toilet paper here.

Once you’ve decided on a campsite and select the relevant options for booking it, click on “request to book”. An SMS and email is sent to the Camplord to review your request. Please note that sometimes the Camplords may not have immediate access to internet or phone network due to their locations in the outskirts. Usually 24 hours is an acceptable response time for them to revert with a reply. You will receive a confirmation through email and SMS with a payment link to complete the booking.

Usually 24 hours is an acceptable response time for them to revert with a reply, but the camplords usually reply within a few hours.

There could be many reasons the camplord was unable to host you at their campground some could be non-availability of staff on that weekend, personal commitments, private gatherings etc. You could book an alternative by browsing our other listing in the area.

You will not be charged anything if your request isn't accepted.

You can cancel your booking through logging into your account and selecting your booking under “my booking”. Here you have an option “Cancel booking” to complete the cancellation.

Depending on your choice of campsite you will see the amenities available. A general rule of thumb is to carry seasonal clothing depending on the altitude of your campsite, a first aid kit and good trekking/walking shoes. Please review the facilities and amenities section on the campsites listing before you book.

In the above example : you will need to carry your own tent and sleeping bags, have adequate battery backup for your mobile devices, carry food for lunch and dinner since only breakfast is provided.
